ABOUT

We are so excited to welcome to the stage a new offering for our adult classes! Join us on the 13th of September for a morning of Wet felting :)

What is wet felting?

I was told a beautiful story by the expert felter who taught me, which tells a tale of accidental self-sufficiency. In the days when we still resided in caves, we made our shoes of leather hides, and they had no rubber soles. They would become sodden and cold. One day, a young lad decided to clad the inners of his shoes with sheep's wool as the lanolin was water repellent and the wool was insulating from the harsh climate. He walked and walked, the wool getting wet, and the friction of the walking changed the wool into felt. When he got home and removed his shoes, he had socks. Wet felting is the process of taking raw sheep's wool, applying friction, and creating felt.

In this class, you will use merino wool, the longest-haired sheep, to create for yourself a small bag, enriching you with all the skills necessary to start a journey of felting, where you can make anything from carpets to hats.
