Survive the Race – A Community United for a Cause

Join us for Survive the Race — a heartfelt and high-energy event born from one family's journey with cancer and transformed into a powerful community tradition.

Originally created by the Schultz family and first supported by Team Max4. The event continued for many years with Beacon Bay Lions running it successfully until they passed it on to Round Table East London 1.

Now in 2025 Survive the Race is in its 11th year and Round Table East London 1 is proud to carry the torch, in partnership with our brothers from Round Table Gonubie 182. Together, we’re committed to growing the event and its impact even further.

More than just a race — Survive the Race is a movement. Funds raised go directly to our fight against cancer within our community.

What is it?

There are a multitude of race stops scattered around town. These stops are known only to the organisers. They consist of various businesses and/or landmarks around East London and its immediate surroundings. The race entrants consisting of 1 vehicle and up to 6 team members will receive a paper with a set of clues. These clues are hints as to which businesses or landmarks are the stops. Teams then make their way to the businesses where the owners and staff meet them with a challenge. This challenge needs to be completed by the team where they will then receive a stamp and are able to move to their next clue. Once all the stops have been visited and challenges completed the teams return to the start to clock their overall time. The team with the lowest time wins. There are prizes for the first 3 teams, best dressed, best car decorations, and best gees on the day.
