ABOUT

TEDxLytteltonWomen is an annually organized TEDWomen event curated under license from TED. Modelled on TEDx, it provides a unique platform for local thought leaders and influencers to share their ideas with global audiences. The TEDxLytteltonWomen curators source, develop and share, on the TED platform, the contributions of hitherto unknown South African women. This has the effect of increasing the pool of women thought leaders and influencers, of African origin, accessible to global audiences.

Each TEDWomen event is curated around a theme, the 2017 TEDWomen theme is BRIDGES.  TEDxLytteltonWomen 2017 theme is WOMANOMICS, positioning  woman as the BRIDGE to unlocking Africa’s potential.

Content from each speaker provides a perspective that speaks to the session idea. We will be showcasing 10 handpicked individuals to speak to this theme in the following idea sessions:
  • Idea Session 1: DESIGNERS – we will be profiling speakers as architects of change.  Within this category we would like to showcase disruptors, thought leaders, activists, policy makers, advocates etc who are championing and envisaging a new reality.
  • Idea Session 2: BUILDERS - speakers are likely to include financiers of Africa's development, implementors of the development agenda; educators of the next generation of Africa's leaders, individuals powering Africa, feeding Africa, and other relevant sector players.
  • Idea Session 3: OPERATORS -  this session will feature speakers who have successfully implemented change and have influenced society, communities, environment, practically or through a way of thinking that now is experienced as the norm.  These influencers are keeping things going.
