ABOUT

Following in the snow-covered footsteps of the great Danish explorers, Jean-Pierre Fluckiger presents his arresting photographs and a compelling conversation about exploring the sea ice of Greenland's north-eastern coast.

He sailed aboard PONANT EXPLORATIONS' Le Commandant Charcot, the world's only luxury icebreaker, where he encountered polar bears and orca whales, trekked the icy tundra of extremely remote, uninhabited islands, and came within almost touching distance of glaciers in the fjords of Scoresby Sound.

Fluckiger will share stories of legendary explorers Ejnar Mikkelsen and Iver Iversen, his visit to a statue commemorating their bravery, his experience of dog-sledding across the ice to reach Ittoqqortoormiit—a tiny Inuit community—and life aboard a luxurious French vessel.

Brian Berkman will serve a warming lunch buffet (with vegan options) and wine before the big-screen presentation.

Tickets for the Saturday, 30 August 2025 noon event at 1332 Edward Road, Pringle Bay are R350 each, available at Quicket or by WhatsApp to 083-441-8765.
