ABOUT

Born without arms - not without attitude!

Nicky Abdinor is a Clinical Psychologist, Inspirational Keynote Speaker, and Founder of the non-profit, Nicky’s Drive. On stage she shares a message that is authentic and captivating, with life lessons that are easily translated into actions in our careers and personal lives. Nicky’s witty sense of humour and natural speaking ability both keeps the attention of the audience and spurs them into action!

By booking Nicky, you are automatically supporting her registered non-profit organisation, Nicky’s Drive (086-364-NPO). Nicky drives a specially adapted car "handsfree” that was donated to her some time ago. This act of generosity and the freedom of driving, inspired Nicky to start Nicky’s Drive. The organisation funds car adaptations for people with disabilities in South Africa. A portion of Nicky’s presentation fee is donated to Nicky’s Drive, enabling others with a #dreamtodrive.

Nicky has a passion for challenging our perceptions of ABILITY. She is a firm believer that it’s not our situation but how we THINK about our situation, that determines our emotional wellbeing. In this keynote (it can also be extended to an interactive Masterclass), Nicky applies her expertise in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy, helping audiences implement practical tools to strengthen their inner cheerleader. Who is the inner cheerleader? It’s the resilient, rational, emotionally attuned and self-compassionate part of ourselves.

What are the barriers to the inner cheerleader?

Our inner critic is the greatest force working against our inner cheerleader. This voice can be punishing, demanding and guilt-inducing. In times of stress and uncertainty, we can find it difficult to access our inner cheerleader. We have developed default- settings that can too often react with a flight, fight or freeze mode. These settings may have helped us in the past but are now keeping us stuck in behavioural patterns that can be limiting and self-defeating. Nicky helps us implement super-practical skills to strengthen our inner cheerleader in this fun, inspirational talk.
