Orange Kloof Guided Hike
Sat Jul 26, 08:00 - Sat Jul 26, 12:00
Orange Kloof Reserve
ABOUT
Orange Kloof, a hidden gem overlooking Hout Bay, offers an exhilarating hiking experience with its rugged terrain and preserved beauty. This area is part of Table Mountain National Park and requires a special permit from SANParks for access. The restriction helps protect sensitive ecosystems, including indigenous forests and rare fynbos species.
The Orange Kloof trails are home to ancient yellowwoods and stinkwoods, remnants of Afro-temperate forests crucial for the ecosystem. In the fynbos sections, plant diversity shines with Proteas like the King Protea, Ericas, Restios, and Pincushion Proteas, showcasing the Cape Floral Kingdom's unique variety.
The secluded environment is also home to diverse wildlife like small mammals and vibrant birds. Hiking through Orange Kloof feels like stepping into an untouched world.
To hike here, permits have to be booked in advance under strict conditions:
- Authorised guides are required to access the area
- Only day hiking is allowed
- Leave No Trace by carrying out all waste and avoiding disturbing nature
- Groups are limited to 12 hikers per day.
