ABOUT

ikeepitbutter

Yo, my name is Sebastian and I produce music as ‘ikeepitbutter’ (a lyrical reference to “Catchin’ The Vibe” by Quasimoto). My musical influences and range are vast, but generally speaking I’m all about groove and pocket. If I could time travel I would go back to the 70’s and sign with Motown.
I spend a lot of time working on music by myself, and collaborating long distance with my partner Jules in Toronto. Because of this dynamic and lack of a permanent band, my live shows are always different - and a bit of an experiment.
My current mode of operation is like Yin and Yang. My Yin is months of time at home in Durban - where life is slow - writing music, recording, and lying in the sun. My Yang is Cape Town - a dose of high energy where I come to play shows with friends and bring the music to life. The Cape Town scene is vibrant and a total joy to be a part of.
Although I have been doing this for many years already, ‘ikeepitbutter’ is a new name and new direction for me, and I am currently working on a run of singles to release over the months to come. I hope to reach a wide audience across the world and internet, as is the way of the era; but I also believe that it is a wildly exciting time to be a part of the South African music scene, and helping this grow and grow is the biggest motive.

Broken Telephone :

Broken Telephone is the boundary-pushing solo project of Cape Town-born multi-instrumentalist and poet Neil Büchner Jr. Drawing inspiration from Jazz, post-punk, Hip Hop, Pop, Ambient, and Electronica, the project weaves diverse sonic textures together to create a sound that’s been described as both erratically energetic and abstractly atmospheric.
Neil is perhaps best known as the frontman of Cape Town art rock band PXLS, who opened the main stage at the last Endless Daze, performed at Playtopia, toured Gauteng and included members of Sold Ash and Suenos.
BT made its live debut at CCC’s No Strings Attached, featuring a special lineup that included Mark Van Zyl (M V Z), original guitarist of Cape Town shoegazers Filthy Hippies and Afrikaans skate punks Lat Patrollie, alongside rising Cape Town MC Jarry Pitboi. Together, they’ve performed at Gorgeous George, Armchair Theatre and The Shred Indoor Skatepark.

Heat Deth:

"Heat Deth is me, Cam Löfstrand. I have been playing in bands for over 10 years.
During covid I dived into the world of synthesisers and music machines, these
explorations evolved into Heat Deth. It is my personal space to experiment. To make
whatever sounds and songs I want to, without filters. Honestly, I just want to make
phat beats.”
