Revolution of Words is a moving, multi-generational performance that bridges the richness of South Africa’s poetic heritage with the urgent voices of today. This bold co-production between the Market Theatre Foundation’s Kwasha! Theatre Company and UJ Arts & Culture brings together a curated selection of works from the Grade 11 & 12 curriculum and the vibrant rhythms of contemporary poetry.
Perfect for educators and learners, this production offers an engaging, live performance of prescribed poems from the Grade 11 and 12 school curricula—supported by bold, modern poetic voices. Revolution of Words not only enriches classroom learning but also fosters critical thinking, dialogue, and cultural connection through performance.
Crafted under the creative vision of award-winning poet Lebo Mashile and directed by Khethukuthula Jele, with movement direction by Sinenhlanhla Mgeyi, the production is performed by the dynamic ensemble of young artists from Kwasha! Theatre Company.
This is not just a performance—it’s a celebration of language, identity, and the transformative force of spoken word. Whether you're a poetry lover, educator, or simply curious, Revolution of Words promises to inspire, challenge, and resonate.
