Fri Jul 11, 09:00 - Sun Jul 13, 16:00

Beacon Island Resort

ABOUT

The Plett Marine Science Symposium is a three-day event with 24 speakers presenting fascinating talks on the ocean, marine life and conservation. Researchers, oceanographers and marine biologists bring you facts and stories about their field trips and observations in the wild ocean world. The talks are aimed at a general audience, not at an academic audience, with all the facts and figures presented in the most accessible and compelling way.

Orcas, penguins, great whites and rays, whales, dolphins and the Knysna seahorse will have you spellbound. Get inside information on oil exploration, preservation of eelgrass beds and impacts of our footprint on MPAs. Go behind the scenes on BBCs "Ocean" and a family gannet story. Explore submarine canyons and the seabed with BRUVs. Listen to the sounds of Antarctica, follow fossil footprints and learn about our ocean ancestry.
