Youth Festival Concert

The Free State Symphony Orchestra proudly present the 2025 Youth Festival Concert taking place on Saturday, 9 August 2025, at the Odeion Auditorium, Bloemfontein.

This bi-annual event brings together South Africa’s greatest young soloists for an unforgettable evening of music. Performing alongside the FSSO under the baton of Daniel Boico, these soloists will showcase a rich and varied programme featuring instrumental and vocal works.

The programme includes:

1. Wieniawski: Violin Concerto No. 2 – Second & Third Movements (Helen Liu – violin)
2. Handel: Alcina – “Ma quando tornerai” (Karabo Rabaloi – soprano)
3. Binge: Concerto for Alto Saxophone – Second & Third Movements (Courtney Esau – alto saxophone)
4. Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 4 – First Movement (Karlin Olivier – piano)
5. Mozart: The Magic Flute – “O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn” (Xoliswa Memane – soprano)
6. Gregson: Tuba Concerto – Second & Third Movements (Kamvelihle Sanqela – tuba)
7. Glazunov: Méditation for Violin and Orchestra (Kitso Moreeng – violin)
8. Vivaldi: Concerto in C Major (F. III, No. 6) – First Movement (Sias Sevenster – cello)
9. Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 1 (Dané van Graan – piano)
