Hosted at The Forum in Johannesburg on 13 September 2025, the workshop brings together leading experts, therapists, educators, and advocates to share practical tools, strategies, and insights to help families navigate the unique challenges and strengths of raising neurodiverse children. Occupational Therapist

Tasneem Abrahams is an Occupational Therapist in private practice, providing therapy, support, and coaching for adults, teens, and tweens struggling with executive functioning, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing that impact daily life. She takes a strengths-based, client-centred, and evidence-based approach, specialising in working with individuals with ADHD to develop practical strategies that support success in everyday activities. Alongside her practice, Tasneem serves on the Board of Directors for Jozi4Autism, contributing to advocacy, education, and awareness. She is a dedicated neurodiversity ally who uses her platforms to amplify the voices of autistic and ADHD individuals with lived experience. Her mission is to provide meaningful support, foster greater acceptance, and create awareness of the value of neurodiverse perspectives.

Naledi Mokoena is an Educational Psychologist and the lead psychologist at Leeto, where she combines her passion for human connection and development with expert guidance to support children and young adults in reaching their full potential. Naledi also works as a researcher, focusing on how children with autism are affected by their environments. Specialist Psychiatrist

Dr Alicia Porter is a Specialist Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, now practising privately at the ADDNOVA Centre for Child and Family Development in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg. Formerly the clinical head of the child and family unit at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, she also serves as an honorary lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of the Witwatersrand. Dr Porter completed her medical degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2002 and qualified as a psychiatrist through the College of Medicine of South Africa in 2010. She holds a Diploma in Human Rights, Mental Health and Law from the Indian Law College in Pune, earned in 2019. She previously ran a private practice at St Augustine’s in Durban.

Dr Rose also provides psychotherapy for adults facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues, and offers couples counselling. In addition to her private practice, she lectures at two local universities, training clinical master’s students. Passionate about making psychological knowledge accessible, she is dedicated to equipping parents with practical tools and strategies to help raise secure, resilient and confident children in today’s world.
