ABOUT
“From the poorest of countries to the richest of nations, education is the key to moving forward in any society." - Nelson Mandela
This Mandela Day, the Kinship Programme is hosting the Mandela Kindness Trek in Virginia Bush. Participants will be running or walking several 1.1km loops - aiming to complete 6.7km (or more). After completing each loop, they will be completing a kindness activity (building jars of hope, making sandwiches, creating seed bombs etc).
The Mandela Kindness Trek is open to all ages! Participants may come down to Lower Virginia Bush anytime between 8am and 12noon.
As this is a fundraiser, we have options that you can utilise to assist us in raising funds:
1. We have a base entry fee of R100per person.
2. Help us raise funds by finding sponsors to pledge a donation for each loop you complete (we have a donation tracker pdf that we will send you).
3. You can choose to make an additional donation or sponsor a kindness activity
All funds raised will be allocated to the Kinship Programme’s Community Embedded Environmental Education Initiative (CEEE). The CEEE Programme leads the teachers from 15 schools in Inanda on a year-long transformative learning journey, to encourage them to adapt their teaching methods so that their ECD children are developing independence, creativity and critical thinking skills through the incorporation of nature-based education in their daily routine. We have raised over R500 000, and are needing a further R180 000 to complete the programme this year.
Help us create a better South Africa, while practicing kindness and developing grit and determination this Mandela Day!
