This art song programme offers the audience a rare opportunity to experience a substantial selection of Hugo Wolf’s Mörike Lieder.

Set to the evocative poetry of Eduard Mörike, these songs are widely regarded as the pinnacle of the art song repertoire. The works featured in this concert are thoughtfully and thematically grouped around chosen themes. A narrative text has been crafted, depicting a fictional yet fact-based series of memoirs in which Hugo Wolf shares personal reflections with the poet Eduard Mörike, offering additional context to the performance. This narrative also provides the audience with an opportunity to explore the biographical details of both the poet and the composer.

Dolf Mathee (baritone), who also authored the narrative text, will perform these masterpieces alongside his life and stage partner, Jana Mathee (piano). They will be joined by Piet Koornhof as the narrator.
