Masterclass on Irma Stern

Dr Alastair Meredith, renowned art historian and head of the Strauss & Co Art Department, presents a talk that focuses on Irma Stern, who is known for her extensive travels across Africa and Europe, and remains one of the most significant early 20th century artists whose complex body of work continues to resonate with and challenge audiences today. The talk coincides with the exhibitions Irma Stern: A Modern Artist Between Berlin and Cape Town at the Brücke-Museum in Berlin and Strauss & Co’s parallel exhibition, which celebrates Stern’s legacy, featuring major works from important local and international collections.
