Why This Work Matters

South Africa’s legacy of racialised oppression continues to impact how we see ourselves, relate to one another, and move through the world. From everyday microaggressions to systemic exclusion, the psychological, emotional, and physical toll of racial trauma ripples across generations and geographies.

Whether we’re aware of it or not, these dynamics shape our well-being, self-esteem, motivation, productivity, and the spaces we co-create in society, our communities, and our professions.

Understanding racial trauma is not just political or intellectual. It is personal, embodied, and necessary for trauma-sensitive practice and collective liberation.

What to Expect

This 6-week learning series blends theoretical insights (80%) with guided experiential activities (20%), offering both conceptual frameworks and embodied exploration.

Participants will:

  1. Examine the historical roots and present-day systemic manifestations of racialisation and internalised oppression
  2. Learn to recognise the emotional and somatic expressions of racial trauma
  3. Explore how silence, avoidance, and privilege perpetuate harm, even with the best intentions
  4. Cultivate a deeper awareness of how to show up with clarity, courage, and compassion
  5. Engage in reflective dialogue and healing-centred practices
  6. Reflect on how we engage collective racial trauma, psychosocial distress and well-being as part of our daily professional and social roles.

Who Is This For?

  1. Individuals committed to personal growth and social justice
  2. Coaches, HR professionals, therapists, educators, and consultants
  3. Community leaders, artists, activists, and changemakers across sectors
  4. Anyone seeking to move from awareness to action in the service of racial healing
