ABOUT

Join us for the exhibition opening of "a bsent matter(s)" - an exhibition from the New Futures Residency Programme. This 4 week programme has brought artists together from all over the world using this prompt to direct its work: "How could we shift from exploitative mine to regenerative ours?

In a world where personal challenges are echoed in others, these become sites for social justice. Our life, our planet, our existence.

This exhibition is a collective materialisation of the programme. 15 artists from 11 nationalities collectively reflected on mining through the investigation of physical and historical sites, both as a material practice of extraction, and as a metaphor for a mode of existence based on possession, separation and exploitation.

During the program, artistic practices were explored as an embodied tool for contestation, mobilisation and resistance, in order to transform the narratives that imprint our landscapes, our economic and political systems, and our imaginaries."
