A survivor of gender based violence, Nishani channels her lived experiences into powerful advocacy and leadership. With over 25 years of experience across multinational corporations, nonprofits and global organisations, she has worked in more than 120 countries — leading initiatives to protect vulnerable populations from sexual violence and drive systemic change.

Nishani works at the critical intersection of feminist and trauma-informed leadership — partnering with leaders and institutions globally to foster healing, inclusion and justice. She brings deep expertise across the HR value chain, with a strong focus on Safeguarding, Gender Justice and ethical leadership. Known for aligning business strategy with bold, values-driven project delivery, she is a transformational feminist leader with a proven ability to lead in high-conflict, high-stakes environments — including war zones.

Nishani's globally implemented frameworks reflect visionary systems thinking and a steadfast commitment to anti-colonial, inclusive and sustainable practices. An avid learner, Nishani stays ahead of global trends while being recognised for her integrity, delivery standards and deeply empowering leadership style. Among her many accolades, she has been named one of South Africa’s Top Women Leaders by the Mail & Guardian.

Outside of her professional work, Nishani is a creative soul — crocheting handmade gifts for abandoned babies and loved ones, each stitch a silent prayer. She is a true hope carrier and voice for the voiceless, continuing to inspire and uplift communities worldwide.

Samantha (Sam) Stern is a globally respected facilitator, trainer and coach with over twenty-five years of experience in organisational development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), team effectiveness, leadership development and psychosocial wellness.

As the founder of Journeys to Remember, Sam designs and facilitates transformative learning experiences that provide opportunities to reflect, reconnect and rediscover – for individuals, teams and organisations. At the heart of her work is the belief that all change starts with self – and ripples out to the wider world through families, teams, organisations, communities and societies. As a result, Sam’s approach to transformation focuses on bringing both individuals and systems back into greater wholeness – or re-membering!

Sam grew up in the UK and lived, studied and worked in the USA before moving to South Africa in 1998. Since then, her work has taken her across the African continent, and to parts of Europe and North America. These experiences have gifted Sam with a deep appreciation for different places and people, and the ability to ‘translate’ across a number of geographic and cultural contexts.

A Nia dance technique white belt and snorkelling enthusiast, Sam relishes the peace and freedom that come from being in rhythm and flow! Sam is also a woman in midlife and the proud mum of a young adult who teaches her more about herself each day!
