ABOUT
Compulsory Submission of PAIA report to the Information Regulator
As of 1 January 2022, ALL private bodies (this includes health care practices) are required to compile and make a PAIA Manual available.
Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) should not be confused with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Both are overseen by the Information regulator and impact each other.
Up to the 1st of Jan 2022, most private bodies were exempt from producing a PAIA Manual, but this exeption has been withdrawn on the 1st of Jan 2022.
30 June Deadline
As part of compliance to PAIA, Information Officers must submit a PAIA Section 83 (4) report to the Information Regulator by the 30th of June 2025.
This report should include information requests, information refusals, etc.
We have invited Elsabé Klink, the managing director of Klink and Samuels (Pty) Ltd to provide us with practical guidance on how to comply with the PAIA and how to meet the annual 30 June 2025 deadline.
