St Charles Catholic Church

ABOUT

Saint Charles Borromeo was a dedicated Catholic priest and educationist who lived in Italy during the Reformation years. Four centuries later, in 1966, a church was built in Johannesburg and named after him.

More popularly known as The Lemon Squeezer due to its distinctive outline, this well-known landmark has been standing tall over Victory Park and Linden for nearly 60 years. But apart from the fond nickname, there are plenty of other reasons to visit.

Boasting unusual architecture, innovative construction techniques and some stunning art work, the church is a delight to behold. And the glorious stained glass windows that were added in 2003 are not to be missed.

So, join expert guide Ed Coogan for an up close and personal visit to the Lemon Squeezer and the many layers of history it represents.

The price includes the donation to the Saint Vincent de Paul charity.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sun protection and water as part of the tour will be outside.
