This Youth Day Edition (June 2024) workshop is part of a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) program to uplift young South African music producers. It provides professional-level exposure to team-based music production and real-world industry practices — for a discounted fee.

Objectives

• Teach collaborative workflows in Ableton Live 12

• Prepare producers for international-level productions

• Identify talent for future projects and collaborations

• Celebrate and empower youth through hands-on learning

Audience

• Young South African music producers (18–30 preferred)

• Ableton users from intro to advanced level

• Creatives with an interest in real-world collaboration

What You’ll Learn

• Importing and analyzing songs in Ableton

• Using markers, key, and tempo for team workflows

• Collaborating in production teams (Drums, Synths, FX, Vocals)

• Presenting song ideas and building from an existing composition

• Sharing work via Dropbox/Google Drive for pro collaboration

Two-Day Structure

Day 1 – Workflow Foundation

Saturday, June 7 2025

• Introduction & Team Formation

• Song import, section marking, key/tempo analysis

• Setup of three production teams

• Initial production & feedback round with 37mph

Day 2 – Pitch, Produce & Present

Saturday, June 14 2025

• Teams present a session (using an existing song)

• Receive feedback & scores from 37mph

• Collaboratively develop the track into a production

• Final presentations & recognition ceremony
