Gail Petrie  (Turfsport founder & CEO)
As an entrepreneur, Gail has probably run her business for the last 35 yrs in a somewhat unorthodox manner. She graduated from UCT with a BSc (Comp Sci). Not being a betting person, but very curious around the risk management element of betting, she applied her IT skills as a programmer and business owner in the sports betting industry. After completing her MBA in 2002, her keen interest in people has meant she has slowly grown the business from a small 4 person informal type business to a flat structured 50 people organisation who are serious about IT architecture and design. Gail is still very involved in the design of new software, but is the first to admit that she continues to learn more from her employees.
Gail also has a very keen interest in the dire state of education in South African schools, particularly around school leadership and governance. She is the Chair person of NELI - the Norkitt Education Learner Initiative. (www.norkitt.net)
