Crossed Wires Sensory Painting Workshop

Sat Jun 14, 14:00 - Sat Jun 14, 16:00

LUMI. Women's Co-Working & Art Gallery

ABOUT

Crossed Wires is a sensory painting workshop grounded in the concept of cross-modal perception — the natural, and often involuntary, way our senses blend and speak to each other. It’s the reason certain sounds seem warm, certain flavours feel sharp, and certain textures evoke memories you didn’t realise you were carrying.

A heavy bassline might drag a thick line of charcoal through your centre.

A mouthful of chenin might taste like sharp, clean lines and flickers of green.

A piece of velvet might open a door to a forgotten summer.

Through a series of guided exercises - tasting wine, listening to music, feeling texture - you’ll explore the hidden links between sensation, memory, and emotion (non-alcoholic options available too). Then you’ll paint what you feel, perhaps what you remember, translating those inner responses into colour, form, and texture.

This is about painting something true, not necessarily something literal. And often, that truth turns out to be beautiful in unexpected ways. Your translation will be personal — shaped by your own neural wiring, your own history. But you’ll also discover something strangely shared: the way full-bodied flavours often lean red, or how sharp notes tend to show up as angles.

No experience with painting is required — just a body, some curiosity, and a willingness to follow the thread.

You may wish to bring an old T-shirt or apron along to protect your clothing from any rogue paint spatters.
