ABOUT
Creative Writing Workshop for Artists & Storytellers
Which Shape Fits Your Story Best?
Join us for a dynamic, hands-on workshop exploring how stories transform across mediums—page, stage, radio, screen, and beyond!
Whether you’re a writer, performer, artist, or creative thinker, this workshop will give you tools to adapt and reimagine stories across different forms—helping you reach diverse audiences through the medium that best suits your message.
Together, we’ll explore how different storytelling forms ignite the imagination and communicate in unique but equally powerful ways.
What to Expect:
- From Idea to Form: Discover how a single idea can evolve into a novel, a screenplay, a poem, a radio play—or even a building.
- The Art of Adaptation: Learn how to consciously shape your stories into the form that best fits their essence.
- Medium Matters: Understand the function and impact of various storytelling forms, and how to use each to connect with your ideal audience.
- Interactive Exploration:
- Presentation on literary and dramatic forms and how to format them
- A case study of Life & Times of Michael K by J.M. Coetzee
- Concept development and multi-form experimentation
- Improv exercises and playful exploration
This is a workshop that is all about learning how to listen to your story, collaborate with its core, and shape it into the form that will allow it to live most fully in the world. It’s also about making meaningful connections with other creatives—and forms part of a growing initiative to connect artists and creatives from diverse disciplines across Cape Town—building a more collaborative, inclusive creative ecosystem.
