An R&B event series for true lovers of the genre, those who know all the criminally underrated and overlooked artists with catalogues stronger than most commercial acts. Brought to you by Doctor Bird Productions, we’re the event platform making it possible to see the artists you never thought you’d get to experience live.

Event Rules & Entry Requirements

Right of admission is strictly reserved.

No under 18s. A valid government-issued ID (ID, passport, or driver’s licence) is required for entry — no copies or photos will be accepted.

Entry will not be permitted after gate closing times.

No outside food, drinks, or liquids are allowed.

Prohibited items include: weapons, illegal substances, glass bottles, fireworks, drones, animals, hookahs/shishas, braais or skottels, plastic straws or cups, and cooler boxes.

This is a cashless event — all major debit, credit, and cheque cards are accepted.

Respectful behaviour is expected at all times. Discrimination, hate speech, intimidation, or aggressive conduct toward staff, performers, vendors, or fellow guests will result in immediate removal from the event.

No sleeping or overnight stays in cars or parking areas will be allowed.

Wristbands must remain intact throughout the event. Damaged bands will only be replaced if the original band, valid ID, and ticket are presented.

No professional photography or video equipment is permitted unless pre-approved via media accreditation.

Re-entry is permitted but subject to full security screening and valid ticket and wristband checks.

Weather Contingency

This is an all-weather event. Please dress appropriately and be prepared for changing conditions. In the unlikely event of severe weather that poses a safety risk, Dr. Bird Productions reserves the right to pause, postpone, or cancel portions of the event. Updates will be communicated via official channels.

Health & COVID-19 Protocols

All attendees must adhere to any national or venue-specific health and safety regulations in place at the time of the event. This may include temperature checks, mask-wearing, or proof of vaccination if required by authorities. If you're feeling unwell, we encourage you to stay home for your safety and that of others.

REFUND POLICY

By purchasing a ticket to Once Upon A Time in Joburg, you agree to the following:

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable under normal circumstances.

Tickets can be safely transferred to another individual via Quicket’s official ticket transfer system.

If the event is postponed, your ticket will remain valid for the new date.

If the event is cancelled by Dr. Bird Productions, you will be offered the choice of a refund or ticket rollover.

Tickets may not be used for promotions, competitions, or giveaways without prior written approval from Dr. Bird Productions.

Tickets acquired through unofficial resellers or unauthorised promotions may be invalid and will not be honoured.

In the event of force majeure (including but not limited to extreme weather, public health emergencies, or government-imposed restrictions), Dr. Bird Productions will communicate any changes, postponements, or refund policies as necessary.
