The Listening Experience Vol.7: Beats, Bars and Banter

This is a special edition titled "BARS".

Joining us on their Cape Town tour are arists SHIMI, PUMA + Roses and VICEQUIAT. Those who've previously attended The Listening Experience will know that normally the evening more producer focused, BEATS heavy. This time around we shed light on BARS as we explore the lyrical universe created by our special guests, SHIMI, PUMA + Roses and VICEQUIAT. We've joined an array of Cape Town's cultural shifters to continue online magazine VERVE's mission to bridge the gap between the underground Hip Hip scenes of Johannesburg and Cape Town.

In true TLE style, the evening will consist of a panel discussion, enticing visuals, live performances by the brassa and Dj/Producer sets.

PUMA + Roses will have some merch from his previous release available for purchase. We will also have poster packs consisting of stickers as well as tour posters for sale. A portion of the sales will go to Sun Raise an initiative by creatives in response to social ills. Currently, they are raising funds to provide financial aid to university students who are displayed and unable to graduate due to financial exclusion.

Vol.7 will take place on the 7th May at One Park, from 7pm until late.

About The Listening Experience

Inspired by our recent events with music producer, beat maker and sampler @in2une we decided to join forces to present The Listening Experience. This event is focused on reviving the underground Hip Hop, Jazz and Neo Soul music scene in Cape Town. Also, providing a space for producers and wordsmiths to connect with each other and to connect with the listener - we aim to foster a beautiful community. We found a home at One Park, which we recently learned was opened for listening sessions. So it only made sense that we host it there.

As usual we welcome you to come enjoy the music in whichever way you feel comfortable. There’ll also be a conversation with the artists on their journey and creative processes. Come draw, come with a friend, come alone, sit, stand, move, feel. Immerse yourself.
