ABOUT
Thamsanqa Vuthela is a character and sonic storyteller inspired by my grandfather, who captivated us with tales as we followed behind his herd of goats. His stories, like the winding paths we walked, carried the echoes of a time long past—woven with wonder, wisdom, and the whispers of our ancestors.
At the heart of this journey is the marimba, the storyteller’s trusted companion. Its wooden bars sing with the rhythms of old, carrying the pulse of forgotten folklore and the spirit of a world that once was. Through song and story, Vuthela brings to life izingane-kwane—the ancient fables that shaped our past and continue to hold meaning in our present.
Each performance transcends time, where folklore intertwines with modern realities, and myth dances with truth. As Vuthela wanders, so too do his tales—bridging the past and present, guiding us through the mysticism of yesterday, and revealing the lessons hidden in the echoes of our ancestors.
