Sinomtha Zake Collective

Sinomtha Zake is a soulful songstress from East London, South Africa. With a voice that  shines brightest in the intimate, emotional realm of ballads, Sinomtha weaves a sonic tapestry  that blends soul with the sophistication of jazz and pop. 

As a classically trained instrumentalist, she developed a deep understanding of melody,  harmony, and composition. This foundation has informed her vocal style, influencing her  performances with a nuanced, expressive quality. 

On stage, she will be joined by some of Cape Town’s finest musicians. Piano virtuoso Blake  Hellaby is known for his mastery of jazz keys, his producing and sound engineering skills,  and his teaching at the University of Cape Town. Guitarist Ryan Truter is both a masterful  soloist and a rhythmically dynamic accompanist, adding an extra drive to the music. Award winning bassist Schalk Joubert, one of South Africa’s most versatile musicians, brings his  deep roots in African blues to the worlds of jazz and pop. Drummer Pascal Haas, who  focused his drumming on jazz and afrobeat, infuses the quartet with rich melodic and  rhythmic textures.
