WILDEHONDE MTB ADVENTURE RIDE 2025

Stoep Tasting 2025 promises to be an exciting weekend once again here in the town of Graaf-Reinet!

We are hosting our second MTB Adventure Cycle Ride and Trail Run for guests attending the festival and who would like to enjoy some additional fun under the sun.

Come and join us at 07H30 on the 24th of May 2025 to experience some outstanding trails within the stunning Camdeboo National Park.

The routes are clearly marked, not technical and safe for persons of all ages.

The events primary aim is to raise funds for the local Wildehonde Childrens Cycling Group who ride their bikes under the supervision of Johan Sparrius.

The WILDEHONDE CYCLING GROUP was started in 2022 with one very eager Grade 1 rider on a hastily designed and built track on the Laer Volkskool premises, and has now grown to 42 riders!

Both boys and girls from Volkskool, Union and Home Schoolers in the town participate in the weekly group rides in and around the little town of Graaff Reinet.

Throughout the year clinics and skills training sessions are organised to help the youngsters improve in all aspects of bike maintenance and riding abilities.

The name came about as the group consists of such a diverse range of children with regards to age, gender and personality, it was said that they resembled a pack of the colourful, playful and energetic African Wild Dogs endemic to South Africa!

The name has been firmly adopted and even found it's way onto the uniquely designed cycling tops that the youngsters proudly wear out on their rides.

Training and riding are done on the gravel roads in and around the town, but especially on the ever expanding dedicated MTB trails in with the Camdeboo National Park.

The Wildehonde/Wild Dogs take part in the annual Sneeuberg MTB Crawl in Murraysburg, the Wolfees MTB race in Middelburg and Eastern Cape MTB Schools League #1.

Last years event raised sufficient funds to allow for the design and fabrication of a much needed bicycle tailer for the group.

This has meant many more children have the opportunity to participate in races far from Graaff Reinet.

This years WILDEHONDE MTB ADVENTURE RIDE hopes to raise funds to cover expenses and entry fees for races so that more of the little ones can participate in 2025.
