ABOUT
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of fungi at this hands-on workshop brought to you by Afrifungi in collaboration with Farm in the Veld.
Join us for a day of discovery as we explore the incredible potential of mushrooms for food production and ecological regeneration. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with welcome drinks before diving into our fungi adventure. Throughout the day, we'll learn about growing mushrooms outdoors, exploring sustainable cultivation methods that work harmoniously with nature.
Get your hands dirty as you inoculate your very own shiitake log to take home – your first step toward growing gourmet mushrooms right in your backyard! Together, we'll also build a Stropharia bed in the organic vegetable garden, showcasing how these magnificent fungi serve as both choice edibles and powerful soil regenerators.
The experience includes a delicious, fresh farm-to-table lunch featuring seasonal ingredients from the garden. As we eat, we'll dive deeper into the wonderful world of fungi, discussing their ecological importance and the many ways they can enhance our gardens, farms, and lives.
This workshop is perfect for gardening enthusiasts, small-scale farmers, and anyone curious about sustainable food production and soil health. You'll leave with practical knowledge, your own shiitake log, and a new appreciation for the magic of mushrooms.
