ABOUT
In this characterised performance, narrator VANESSA LIPARI takes the audience on a journey through the mystical streets of Orphalese via THE PROPHET by KAHLIL GIBRAN (written in 1922 and first published in 1923).
This is a fictional story of a wise sage called Almustafa, “The Prophet”. After 12 years in The City of Orphalese, Almustafa must return to the land of his birth, but not before sharing his gems of wisdom with the people of The City. The people of Orphalese (the interactive audience), call upon the Prophet to share his vast wisdoms from between Birth & Death. This performance will include: The Coming of the ship; Love; Children; Giving; Pleasure; Pain; Death & The Farewell, with a short break of 10 minutes in between.
Vanessa Lipari is a spoken-word artist from Cape Town who knows and carries The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran verbatim – the only person in the world who does. Come experience her vastness in this intimate life inspiring show. This performance is accompanied by a unique, spontaneous musical composition by the talented Unathi Mahlalela on guitar.
