Amber Glades Classic & Vintage Car Tour

Join us for a relaxed classic and vintage car tour through the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, open to all pre-1985 cars. Whether you are after a scenic drive or simply looking to connect with other enthusiasts, this event is about enjoying the road, celebrating heritage, and sharing the day with like-minded motoring lovers.

Tour Format & Route

Distance: Approx. 99km

Start: Amber Glades reception

End: 7 Karkloof Road, Howick

Stops:

Short coffee break at Fable Eatery, Curry's Post

Quick stop at the main school bell on Hilton College's historic Circular Drive

Regulatory Stages: 3 timed sections for those who wish to participate.

Full points (100) awarded if a car checks in within 1 minute of target time.

1 point deducted for every full minute late.

2 points deducted for every full minute early.

There are 3 stages, giving a maximum of 300 points.

Results will be calculated by the Amber Glades team as soon as possible after the last car is in.

Route Options - Leg 1

Participants will have a choice between:

Option 1: Standard asphalt route

Option 2: Optional gravel route for off-road capable classics

Both routes start and finish together, and all vehicles merge onto the same asphalt route after the first stop.

The route is on demarcated provincial roads.

Maximum speed: 10km/h below the posted speed limit, with an absolute maximum speed of 70km/h

Entry & Logistics

All vehicles must report for registration by 6:30am on the day of the event.

Start time is 8:00am (vehicles set off in 2-minute intervals).

Entries are limited to 50 cars.

Free for the first 40 entries. Thereafter R250 per car.

Entry deadline is 13 July 2025.

Starting order will be based on the order in which entries are received.

A minimum of 10 entries is required for the event to proceed.

Amber Glades reserves the right to cancel the event if minimum numbers are not met.

The route map will be emailed to participants upon confirmation of entry.
