Introduction to Modern Calligraphy with pointed pen

This is a 3-hour long hands-on introduction to the basics of modern calligraphy with a pointed pen. We will demystify modern calligraphy and give you a little taste of what it’s all about without leaving you feeling overwhelmed. This class is perfect if you've never tried calligraphy before. You’re not going to leave as a calligraphy master but we promise, you will have fun! You'll walk away with all the knowledge you need to make the world beautiful with the written word.

Ideal for 13-year-olds and older.

What we'll cover:

• The correct way to hold your oblique/pointed pen (straight holder for left-handed people)
• Basic strokes and lowercase modern cursive calligraphy alphabet
• How best to care for your pointed pen

We'll provide everything you need to use during the workshop, but feel free to bring any pens and inks if you have questions or would like to use them in the class

What's included:

• 3 hours of fully guided instruction by Monique of Get Fonted
• A practice workbook to hone your skills and a workshop keepsake

When to arrive: 15 minutes before starting time

What to bring: Yourself! All class materials are provided.

What to wear: Something dark/black that you wouldn't mind getting some ink on - just in case!

What to expect: Lots of gushing over pens and stationery

CANCELLATION POLICY

When you purchase a ticket to a class/workshop, that secures your place and prevents someone else from purchasing those tickets. We expect all our events to sell out and as such, have a strict cancellation policy to ensure we aren’t experiencing a loss of income last minute.

• Cancellations with more than 14 days' notice: You can transfer yourself to a future class/workshop of your choice free of charge, or get a full refund for a fee specified by Quicket.
• Cancellations with more than 7 days' notice: You can transfer yourself to a future class/workshop of your choice free of charge. No refunds.
• On the day or after the workshop: You won't be able to transfer yourself for a future date. No refunds.
• If someone in your group is ill or unable to attend, you may bring someone else in their place. As we have limited seating available, “no call, no shows” on the day will not be refunded.
