Opera-tunity Knocks: A Hi-Note Hi-Jinks Extraganza (Kearsney College featuring Aaron & Lisa)

“Hi-Jinks” (sometimes spelled ‘high jinks’) refers to playful, mischievous, or boisterous behaviour - usually fun and lighthearted antics that might involve some silliness or pranks.

Join us at Kearsney College for a comedic, over-the-top romp filled with musical shenanigans, perfectly suiting an operatic parody!

The show will feature music from the movies (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Godfather, Kill Bill), a tranquil Celtic meditation by composer Karl Jenkins, as well as pop-anthems from the 80s, (Madonna), 90s (Michael Jackson) and naughties (Muse), and a touch of operatic flair, featuring the talents of our beloved Kearsney College Choir, Orchestra and Drama Department in collaboration with the theatre gems of Durban, the inimitable and extraordinary Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert, causing electrifying, organised mayhem on stage with their signature blend of cabaret, comedy and lovable characters.

As a special treat, and to account for the ‘Hi-Note’ reference in the title, prepare to be blown away by the crazy coloratura of UKZN Opera School’s brightest star, Zee Madiyata, who will be providing some high-brow, opera delights with renditions of Verdi’s Brindisi and Puccini’s O mio babbino caro, joined on stage and accompanied by the Kearsney boys.
