ABOUT HEATSKRS FILM SHOWCASE

Taking place on the 22nd March 2025 at Artistry Johannesburg is BAI's Heatseekers events presents an quality showcase of South African short films and digital content being made by trailblazing local youth filmmakers and digital voices.

Heatseekers' Film Showcase will be spotlighting 6 pieces from 5 filmmakers with a day that will also include live Q&A discussions, games and local film trivia in a day that's sure to highlight and celebrate the power of film, art and youth creativity.

This film showcase falls within a wider 2025 Heatseekers Showcase program of activities by the BAI Foundation, and is being done with the support of The National Film and Video Foundation, The Gauteng Film Commission and Artistry Johannesburg.

Film Showcase Screeners - 22nd March 2025, Doors Open at 13:00

1) The Passage (2024) - A coming-of-age drama short starring Khayalethu Xaba, Jaden Oratile Mosadi, Lwazi Pinyana & Kiba Mavi. Directed by: Ntokozo Mlaba

2) The Entries Showcase (2024-2025) - 2 video essays/documentary shorts surrounding contemporary South African socio-political topics, as documented by The Entries' Thabiso Legodi

3) ON AIR - Visual Album (2024) - A music film by Filah Lah Lah & Dein-Conrad O'Toole that melds documentary footage, film vignettes, choreography pieces and much more into a singular multi-media experience.

4) Umlindelo (2024) - A family drama short starring Zikhona Bali & Lungelo Madondo. Directed by Mbali Mashaba

5) Limp Biscuit (2023) - A dark-comedy/thriller short starring Moshosho Mothlabane & Siya Mahlobo. Directed by Bonginkosi Makhubu
