ABOUT

Canticum Novum: A Living Legacy of Versatility

Canticum Novum, a men’s choir from Aalst, Belgium, under direction of Andries De Winter, is joined in concert by Laerskool Stellenbosch Seniorkoor, under direction of Riana de Wet, and Viva Cantare Choir, Stellenbosch, under direction of Xander Kritzinger.

Canticum Novum was founded in 2020 by former members of Cantate Domino. Under the direction of conductor Andries De Winter, the choir performs a broad range of musical genres, from sacred music to contemporary works. The joy of singing together and the sense of connection that music brings are central to each performance, leaving a lasting impact on audiences. With their versatile repertoire, the choir continues to embody the values of unity and musicality they were taught.

Fifth Anniversary and Concert Tour to South Africa

In celebration of its fifth anniversary in 2025, Canticum Novum is undertaking a concert tour to South Africa. This tour, building on the strong bonds formed during their previous visit, reflects their commitment to their founder’s vision of using music as a universal language to connect people worldwide. It is a unique opportunity to carry the legacy of founder, Reverend Canon H. Ghijs, a dedicated clergyman and visionary choir leader from Aalst, abroad and celebrate it internationally.
