Trip to the Universe | Sutherland | Tankwa Karo

I'm very excited to share this incredible experience of visiting the best place in the world for stargazing with all of you! Our group size is perfect: big enough for us to have a blast together, yet small enough for us to connect and make the most of this planetary adventure.

During the day, we’ll explore the region's nature (some say it looks like another planet ??). At night, we’ll be exploring the sky.

Another highlight is the farmhouse where we'll be staying. This will let us dive even deeper into the bush vibes and meet some animal friends.

Logistically, everything's taken care of.

We'll have a dedicated driver who'll pick us up from our houses, drive us to Sutherland region, around the Tankwa Karo national park and then safely take us back. With our SUV, we won't have to worry about the roads or luck of comfort. Check out the detailed plan below and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

A DAY-BY-DAY BREAKDOWN of our upcoming adventure:

• 12 JULY:
• 15:00 ? Pick up in Cape Town
• 15:00 - 19:00 ? Drive to Sutherland
• 19:00 ? Arrival at the farm house
• 20:00 - 23:00 ? Braai and stargazing ??

On the first day, we’ll focus on driving from Cape Town to our destination. That evening, we’ll enjoy a calm, pleasant time at our house, get to know each other better, WATCH THE SKY, and ensure we rest up enough for the next day’s national park exploration.

• 13 JULY:
• On the second day, we'll embark on a full-day national park adventure, exploring the nature of the region – another highlight of this trip. In the evening, we’ll go to the observatory to deepen our stargazing experience by watching the sky through a telescope!
• 05:30 ? Breakfast
• 06:30 ? Depart from the lodge

?? 7:30 ? Sunrise in Tankwa Karo

Upon entering the park, we'll stop at the first get-out spot and take some time to walk around. We'll listen to the sounds of the bush, feel the temperature, and admire the landscape.

• 07:30 - 15:30 ? Exploring the park
• 16:00 - 17:30 Lunch at a restaurant & rest before the second part of the day.

?? 18:00 - 21:30 ? Stargazing at the observatory

• 22:00 - 24:00 ? Braai and sky :)

On our last day, we'll dedicate the morning to meeting animals at the farm and walking around Sutherland village, preparing to head back to the city.

14 JULY:

• 6:30 - 7:30 ? Breakfast
• 7:30 ? Sunrise at the animal farm
• 9:00 - 11:00 ? Walk around the city
• 12:00 ? Lunch in the city
• 13:00 - 17:00 ? Drive back to the city

Lovely authentic farm stay:

We've strategically chosen the location to minimize commuting time between the sights. The farmhouse, nestled in the bush, offers a peaceful retreat from the city hustle and allows us to enjoy the clearest skies free from external lights.

What makes it even more special is that our farmhouse is one of the oldest buildings in the area, enhancing our off-the-grid experience even further.
