Lex Futshane Quintet

This tour will unfold across two vibrant cities—Joburg and Gqeberha—dedicated to inspiring a passion for jazz education and practice in South Africa. 

The music will celebrate a tapestry of compositions by Lex Futshane, both timeless classics and innovative new pieces, alongside jazz standards reimagined by the band. 

Our mission is to weave a compelling musical narrative for jazz students and enthusiasts, highlighting the rich journey of jazz from its African roots, through its transformation in America, to its dynamic reinvention in contemporary Africa. 

We are also excited to offer workshops for young people throughout the tour, nurturing the next generation of jazz talent.
