The Rooftops of Rosebank

Sat Feb 1, 09:00 - Sat Feb 1, 11:30

Radisson RED Johannesburg

ABOUT

From Oxford Road’s dusty beginning as a fire break between the farms of early Joburg, Rosebank has grown into one of Joburg’s trendiest neighbourhoods. Now, join us for a unique tour that explores the precinct from a different angle - its rooftops and terraces!

Looking down from up-market art galleries, luxurious hotels, and beautiful art deco apartments you’ll discover a rich history layered between the buildings. Along the way, we’ll also find out more about the sweet houses of old Rosebank, (fast disappearing in face of new developments), St Teresa's Church (an architectural gem), the Everard Read Gallery (the city's oldest commercial gallery), and the clever repurposing of old buildings such as The Bank.

Join your guides Karen Curry and Boitumelo Moletsane as they reveal the people and places who made Rosebank what it is today. We’ll end our tour back at the Radisson Rooftop Bar.

Please wear good walking shoes, bring along water and sun protection, and leave your vertigo at home!

The meeting place is the rooftop of the Radisson RED hotel, corner Oxford Road and Jellicoe Avenue. Underground parking is accessible from Parks Boulevard.
