ABOUT
Join us for an enchanting experience of choral music that pays tribute to the rich, expressive world of Romanticism. Spirit of Romanticism brings together evocative poetry and soaring harmonies, showcasing the works of some of the most beloved composers of the Romantic and late-Romantic eras.
This carefully curated programme explores themes of light, devotion, nature, and the human spirit, featuring compositions that highlight the emotional depth and artistic beauty of the Romantic tradition. From the radiant Hail, Gladdening Light by Charles Wood to the stirring Magnificat in G by Charles Villiers Stanford and the serene Psalm 23 by Franz Schubert, each piece reflects the profound influence of Romantic poetry and musical expression.
Surrender and be transported by Edvard Grieg’s ethereal Ave Maris Stella and Våren, the grandeur of Elgar’s Ecce Sacerdos, and the rousing energy of Mendelssohn’s Jauchzet dem Herrn. Other highlights include Brahms’ Wenn ein starker Gewappneter, Stanford’s hauntingly beautiful The Blue Bird, and Elgar’s tempestuous Love’s Tempest.
Experience the passion, depth, and lyricism of the Romantic era through the voices of our accomplished choir in an evening that celebrates the enduring spirit of Romanticism.
