The Event

Two Brewers, two stories of passion, five Beers and food pairing.
Meet Head Brewers John Hudson from world-class Norwegian brewery Amundsen and J.C Steyn from local pioneers Devil’s Peak Brewery. Taste Amundsen’s Barefoot Grapefruit Saison, Ink & Dagger IPA and Peppermint Crisp Tart Imperial Stout with Devil’s Peak Grapefruit Express and Juicy Lucy. The Devil’s Peak team first met Geoffrey Jansen Van Vuuren, General Manager of Amundsen Brewery, at Craft Beer Rising 2017 in London. As Geoffrey was born in George, beer banter with fellow South Africans came easy, and it wasn’t long before a collaboration brew was on the cards. We’ve since made it official by inviting Geoffrey and Amundsen Head brewer John Hudson down to Cape Town to kick off a newfound partnership and brew an amazing beer.
Meet the Brewers at Beerhouse will provide Devil’s Peak and Amundsen the opportunity to showcase the capability and creativity of their respective brewers. On the night, the beer tasting will offer patrons the opportunity to experience how grapefruit plays out in two different beer styles, Grapefruit Express IPA and Barefoot Grapefruit Saison, while having both brewers in house to chat through their creations. What’s more, Devil’s Peak will also be offering a sneak preview of the new Juicy Lucy recipe, which will be launching on 1 June. This will be an excellent beer to compare with Amundsen’s Ink & Dagger IPA. The final beer on the docket is the Peppermint Crisp Imperial Stout from Amundsen’s Dessert in a Can series. Our collaboration brew will also be a dessert beer in this same vein, and we are thrilled to be working with such a talented team to create something truly unique.
