 Language Soup for your Soul

Emerging programming languages that you should have in your toolbox

It seems like a new programming language is born every month.  Yet, wide adoption of a language is quite low.  Then there are some languages that are a good workhorse, general purpose languages that gain wide adoption.  We see that with Java, C#, C/C++, Ruby, Python and several others.  These languages can be used to solve a variety of problems, and have strong supporting ecosystems making them widely useful.

Sometimes, though, these good ol’ faithful languages make for verbose or clumsy solutions.  As developers, we experience this as pain.  But there is a way out of this, and that is to know which languages best solve specific classes of problems.

At XConf, we will discuss a few languages that we believe solve often encountered classes of problems precisely.  These languages may well gain adoption in coming years.  Of course, predicting which languages gain popularity is difficult.  Nevertheless, the languages we present at XConf should have a space reserved in your toolbox.
