STEPP Hilton Michaelhouse Derby day Picnic Site

STEPP (St Anne's Education in Partnership Programme) is the St Anne's vehicle through which St Anne's girls learn Social Responsibility. STEPP partners with a number of public primary schools in the Mpophomeni, Lion's River and Sweetwaters areas and seeks to provide educational support to teachers and learners in the Foundation and Intermediate Phases. STEPP's main focus is early Language Literacy development - a response to the literacy crisis in South Africa where over 80% of Grade 4 children cannot read for meaning. STEPP literacy classes are held four days a week with learners either coming to St Anne's or St Anne's girls travelling out to the partner schools. Here the St Anne's girls teach the children to read for meaning through a programme developed by STEPP.

STEPP is also responsible for raising funds to sustain this important initiative.

We will be giving away a picnic site on the main field of Michaelhouse for the Derby day to be held against Hilton on the 3rd May 2025. This incredible prize includes the following:

A designated picnic site and St Anne's gazebo on the main field with fabulous views of the rugby fields for the rugby matches.
