ABOUT

On 6 December 2013, for the first time, TEDxJohannesburg celebrates women and the powerful role they play in inventing the world we live in by hosting TEDxJohannesburgWomen. This event is held in partnership with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at their Illovo campus, in Johannesburg.

TEDxJohannesburgWomen channels the pioneering spirit of the city to celebrate invention in all its forms. Not just in business and politics, but also in technology, solutions to poverty; approaches to peacemaking; expressions of art, and, at times, to life itself.

More than 150 TEDx communities around the world host parallel events anchored by the main TED event in San Francisco, centered on the theme “Invented Here”. The result: A truly global conversation – from San Francisco to São Paulo, Johannesburg to Jeddah – celebrating inventors and designers; thinkers and makers; local problem-solvers and global leaders; on the stage and in the audience.

Expect to mix and mingle with Johannesburg’s leading women and men operating at the coalface of change, across disciplines and backgrounds.

Cost of attendance is R500. NGOs pay R250. Registration is open.

TEDxJohannesburgWomen: Invented Here. Be there.
