Oemmie Screening & Panel Discussion

Join us for a screening of Oemmie, a short film, directed by Taahir Sarguro and story by Yasser Booley. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Bo-Kaap, this short film offers a heartfelt commentary on the area's rich Islamic heritage. 

Through a tender conversation between an aging matriarch and her grandson, Oemmie explores themes of memory, change, and the cultural and historical essence of this iconic neighborhood.

Following the screening, engage with us in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring the filmmakers and cultural heritage experts from the community where we’ll explore the challenges and opportunities in preserving Bo-Kaap’s identity for future generations
