Part of the Waterberg Biosphere and situated on the eastern plateau of the malaria-free Waterberg mountains, two and a half hours drive north of Pretoria, is an ecologically rich and fascinating wilderness area with abundant game and bird-life. While this is ideal four-wheel drive and mountain bike country, 18 km of walking trails have been laid out to suit different levels of fitness. A bilharzia free river provides opportunities for swimming and picnics.


WHAT TO SEE A number of different larger mammal species may be seen on foot or from a viewing hide. – and more than 200 species of birds have been sighted. This area is particularly interesting geologically and is rich in the variety of tree species found here, some occurring exclusively in the Waterberg. To date, 122 tree species have been identified, some of which have been labelled for easy identification.

ASTRONOMY ‘Dinaledi’ observatory, situated in the open savannah area of the farm, provides excellent viewing of the night sky. Between the months of May and September (weather permitting), two large Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes as well as an achromatic refractor telescope, offer magnificent views of the cosmos under dark and clear skies. The host will provide an informal Night Sky show.



ACOMMODATION
Every effort has been made to preserve the wilderness aspect of the farm whilst providing for the necessary comfort. There are no power lines, telephone lines or lights visible on adjacent farms. 

Accommodation - Mokamole’ River Camp offers two self-catering accommodation options: - in an open plan rock cottage.  - dormitory type accommodation containing sixteen bunk beds Flush toilets and bush showers (hot or cold) are provided under separate roof A 210l fridge and 120l chest freezer are available for use.Ablution facilities include flush toilets and bush showers (hot or cold). 
The River Camp is equipped with solar powered lights. Charging facilities (220V and 5V USB) for cell phone, camera and laptop batteries are available at the Camp. Self Catering - supply your own food and drinks, braai on the Friday and Saturday evening.
Bring your power cables. Braai facilities are available and most cooking is done over the open fire. Pots, pans and kettle are provided as well as a limited amount of firewood.
