ABOUT
Tiana Amari, hailing from Guguletu, Cape Town, is a versatile bassist and composer whose musical journey commenced in 2010 at the Ntonga Music School. There, she first embraced the bass guitar, igniting her passion for music. She further honed her skills from 2013 to 2014 at the Cape Music Institute under the mentorship of Camillo Lombard and Sammy Webber, supplemented by additional classes at University of the Western Cape with George Werner.
Rooted in the rich traditions of South African jazz, Tiana Amari's repertoire spans across diverse genres including R&B, hip hop, fusion, and rock. Mentored by the late Spencer Mbadu, she has collaborated with a wide array of artists such as Lana Crowster, Ernestine Dean, and Sophia Foster, establishing herself as a prominent figure in the music scene.
In April 2023, Tiana made significant contributions to a NetflixSA project alongside maestro Ofenste Pitse, collaborating with acclaimed artists such as Msaki and Nikita Kering. Currently, she is focused on her solo project and is actively engaged in recording her debut album. Additionally, she serves as the bassist for the renowned Karen Zoid and regularly participates in their tours, showcasing her dynamic talent on stage.
