Umdoni Park Adventure Hike

Hidden Gem of the South Coast!

Join us for an unforgettable adventure at Umdoni Park Nature Reserve, located near Pennington on the South Coast. This 210-hectare park, gifted to the nation, is a stunning area of natural beauty, featuring Umdoni trees, diverse wildlife, and spectacular views. Whether you're into hiking, running, or cycling, this reserve has something for everyone!

Explore the trails, ranging from 15 minutes to 4 hours, while enjoying excellent birdwatching opportunities, including spotting the nesting crowned eagles and the rare Dahlgrenodendron natalensis tree. We'll visit several fascinating landmarks during our hike, including:

• The magnificent gorge (top & bottom views)
• Waterfall
• Old windmill & pump house
• Whale viewing deck
• Environmental Centre
• Bird hide, froggie pond, and more!

• Time: 7:15 AM arrival for a 7.30 AM start
• Place: Umdoni Park Golf Club Main Carpark (outside the clubhouse)
• Grading:
• Regular hiker: Grade 1
• Casual hiker: Grade 2
• Distance: Approx. 8-10 km
• Duration: Approx. 3–4 hours
• Cost: R199 per person (Kids under 13: R119)
• Transport Package: R399 per person, including transport from Durban (pick-up/drop-off at North Beach/Suncoast OR Galleria Mall)

What to Bring:

• Shoes with good grips (hiking boots or takkies)
• Snacks, water, or cold drinks
• A backpack to carry everything

Spaces are limited, so book early!

Important Notes:

• The event will go ahead rain or shine—only extreme conditions (heat, cold, hail, or heavy rain) will lead to postponement or cancellation. Bring a raincoat—a little rain never hurt anyone, and it keeps the bugs away!
• A minimum of 15 confirmed bookings is required for the event to proceed. If this number isn’t met, the event will be cancelled, and refunds will be issued.
• No credit or refund for 'no-shows'.

After the Hike:

• Drinks and lunch at the clubhouse (NO CASH—cards only).
• Shower facilities are available (bring your own towel).
