Nappy Run – 01 October 2024: A Colourful Campaign Providing Dignity and Inclusion for Children and Adults with Disabilities
This year, the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) proudly celebrates the 13th anniversary of our Nappy Run campaign. This vital initiative raises awareness about the needs of children with disabilities and encourages the donation of children and adult size nappies from 01 October to 03 December throughout South Africa.
"For the last 12 years the campaign has supported an average of 2000 children per year throughout South Africa. While the primary focus is on delivering nappies, we also take the time to evaluate children for wheelchairs, and we are fortunate to receive wheelchair donations from generous donors for many children with disabilities." Says Danie Marais, Senior Manager of Projects and Programs at National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
Join us for our exciting and impactful annual Nappy Fun Run, Walk, or Wheel, on Saturday, 02 November 2024, at the Johannesburg Zoo. Registrations open at 06h30am, and the walk starts at 07h30 to 10h00, followed by prizes and networking.
Note: The NCPD makes a humble, but urgent call to all in South Africa to support the nappy collection drive by donating nappies, or by making a monetary (Nappy Rands) donation towards the purchasing of nappies. Besides bringing Nappy donations to the Zoo on the day, Nappy Rands donations can also be made when selecting your tickets on this page.
- We prefer not to receive nappies for new born babies but rather small, medium and large children’s nappies and small, medium, large and extra-large adult nappies (as some of the teenagers wear adult large and extra-large)
- Nappies or pull-up incontinent pants are welcome (preferably unisex)
