About the talk
Alessandra Lemma is a world-renowned Psychoanalyst and Clinical Psychologist and was the 2022 Sigourney Award recipient. She has published extensively on a very wide range of subjects and her views offer a radical, contemporary approach to classical psychoanalytic theories.
Lemma's paper on hope looks to understand how trauma impacts the way we use our minds and in particular how trauma affects our capacity to prevail against despair. She identifies what she understands as a spectrum for the capacity for hope – a more mature capacity on the one end and a more persecuted capacity on the other.
