ABOUT
Author and actor Milton Schorr has been hitchhiking since his early teens, and has criss-crossed Southern Africa, Europe and Australia. Tales Of The Hitch is the first time that he brings a collection of his thumbing the world stories to the stage. Join him as he takes you on a multi-media adventure through his first taste of getting out on the road as a 14 year old, his love of lorries on the open highway, sleeping rough in Australia, being arrested in the Egyptian desert, and the longest and coldest night of his life, waiting for a car or the sun.
Schorr has won numerous awards as a writer and actor. His debut novel Strange Fish won ‘best novel’ at the SA Independent Publishing Awards 2021. He received the Imbewu Scriptwriting award for his play The Heroin Diaries, and both the ‘iDidTht Best of Reel for Direction Craft’ and ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’ award for the short film detailing his drug addicted youth, Surrender. His MMA based screenplay This Is African MMA is currently in development, and he has appeared in blockbuster Hollywood productions such as Netflix’s global number one show One Piece (Don Krieg), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Outlander, Tomb Raider, and most recently, Ari Kruger’s The Shakedown.
He is a renowned travel and sports writer, with credits in many of South Africa's major publications. The hitchhiking tale A Man Of The Road is his second novel and his third, MORE: A Tale Of Drugs And Addiction, will be released by Penguin in the new year. He currently helms the avant-garde theatre group The Story Co, who perform cutting edge theatre in alternative spaces in Cape Town.
